The internal environment is fed by food, thoughts, oxygen and water. Our external environment is anything that surrounds the physical body, including temperature, sound, light, aroma, textures and everything that impacts the six (6) senses. Our responses and reactions may facilitate or block the balance between mind, body and spirit.

When the mind, body and spirit are in balance, good health serves us well. We feel at ease, comfortable and joyful. When out of balance, there is a feeling of disease, discomfort, and distraction from joy.

Ideally, the wellness professionals on our healthcare team are able to address the many factors that impact our mind/body/spirit, so that our healing journey is enhanced.

Holistic and Integrative Healing LLC offers a wide range of services designed to address the needs of the mind, body and spirit. Dr. Iankowitz performs a physical exam after an in depth discussion regarding the patient’s perception of the problem at hand. An extended team of holistic, licensed and certified professionals remains available to all patients and referrals are generated as appropriate at the patient’s request as well as by Dr. Iankowitz’ assessment of need.

Here is a sample of a breathing intervention patients are taught:

THE DEEP CLEANSING BREATH (Posture is discussed and taught to facilitate lung capacity Рto make sure you actually GET the deep breath into your system). A biofeedback STRESS MANAGEMENT card is used as a tool to help the patient learn how to improve the technique.

STEPS to the deep cleansing breath:

1. Take a deep gentle, slow breath (through your nostrils) to the count of four (4)

2. Hold the deep, breath in (as you sit up straight), to the count of four (4)

3. Exhale slowly and thoroughly but do not force the air out – to the count of eight (8)

Dr. Iankowitz teaches patients how this deep breathing technique assists in healing the body. She explains, in accordance with the patient’s curiosity and level of interest

  • what goes on inside the body
  • why this help us to heal, and
  • how to speed up healing of any imbalance using this intervention in combination with other appropriate interventions.
